Imagine five colourful autumn days in a spacious and sunlit lodge, nestled in the beautiful northern Michigan woods, on the shores of a crystal clear lake. Now imagine yourself with these same five uninterrupted days (minus kids, dogs, well-meaning spouses and daily obligations) to totally immerse yourself in the art project(s) of your own choosing, and working anytime day or night.
Let's face it: for many of us, this is a dream come true. How many unfinished projects do you have in your studio, just waiting for time to complete? Maybe you would love some extended time to play with a new technique or skill. Or it's about time you stopped slaving away by yourself, and want some company while doing what you love.
This is what Artful Retreat is all about. Again this year, it's all about giving you a chance to unwind and play to your heart's content in a creative and comfortable environment sure to inspire. Located just seven miles west of Boyne Falls on tranquil Thumb Lake, Lake Louise Lodge will provide you with everything you could possibly need to immerse yourself in your art. Your only interruptions are meals and sleep--even these are optional should the spirit move you. Set your own schedule and work at your leisure.
The Details
Note: by popular demand, we've extended Artful Retreat by one extra day! Arrive on Sunday, October 17, by 4pm. Settle in and we'll order pizza for dinner at 6pm as a group. The workshop ends after breakfast on Saturday, October 23. The cost for the retreat is $375 per person for a semi-private room, and $575 per person for a private room (day campers: $195 which includes breakfast and lunch each day). This nominal fee includes:
- 6 nights lodging in a semi-private room with two double beds and a vanity sink that you share with a roommate (centrally located bathrooms are equipped with showers)
- your own large round table in the workroom
- breakfast and lunch each day
Enjoy dinners out (not included in the workshop cost) to sample some of the great restaurants in the area. Or, grab a sandwich or pizza in town and eat in front of the fire at the Lodge!
